THE COMPANY/OPPORTUNITY:

A rapidly growing pre-packed ready meal company in Dublin in operation over 30 years are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager for one of their plants on the Northside of Dublin


My client work supplies a large proportion of the major retail multiples as well as servicing a range of very large clients in the catering sector and they have become the market leader in their sphere by focusing on the quality of their products and also on the satisfaction of both their customers and their employees.

THE JOB:

Working in a large high-volume plant (over 400 people employed) and reporting to the head of Operations as Engineering Manager your job is to be responsible to lead and manage all the site engineering activities including developing best practices, ensuring excellence in all engineering initiatives, and coaching and mentoring operations engineers.


A key part of this role will be developing and delivering the medium and long-term engineering strategies for the site.

Some of the key elements of this exciting Engineering Manager role include

  • Responsible for all Energy used on site i.e., Electricity, Gas, Refrigeration, etc.
  • Managing all site services, wastewater, process water, process chemicals, sewage etc.
  • Leading and managing a diverse team of Engineering Technicians.
  • Budget control, responsible for all engineering and CAPEX budgets and budget allocation annually.
  • Creating quarterly financial reports.
  • Ensuring business is always audit ready and responsible for adherence to all on site safety requirements
  • Managing all pm maintenance activities on site system.
  • Reviewing and agreeing all service contracts annually and negotiating all contracts
  • Drive innovation of concepts to support next-generation designs,
  • Manage engineers, and possibly other supervisors, involved in an array of product development and technology exploration projects.
  • Participate at department management level and build strong peer relationships.
  • Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new processes, products or software systems.
  • Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.
  • Guides the conceptualisation of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products.
  • Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to installation within business. .
  • Selects, develops and evaluates your team
  • Actively mentor, coach, and ensure career development plans are in place for direct reports.



WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU!

You will have 5 years' + experience of managing high performing team of engineers in a busy and metrics driven environment
You will hold a relevant technical/engineering degree or equivalent and have a proven track record in using Lean and project management tools
Experience on Ammonia refrigeration systems and BMS {Building Management System} functions and controls is key for the Engineering Manager role
You will have strong electromechanical abilities with a strong hands-on ability to assist and fault find on electrical systems if needed
Finally you must be able to work effectively on cross-functional teams
