Design Engineer

Job Overview

The Design and Support Engineer - Electrical will provide professional engineering input (particularly
electrical) for the company.

You will work as part of the Design Team to support the design, costing and implementation of work packages and other incidental projects. Maintain strong technical knowledge on electrical systems and light sources, including equipment and techniques related to company activities, you will also assist with risk assessments and safe work procedures.

Strategic and proactive input into design process by leading on the preparation of electrical drawings,
specifications for component equipment, tender documentation, procurement, etc. in advance of scheduled
on site work.

Lead on the design, cost estimation and implementation of a range of Capital Projects and other
incidental work packages and provide strategic and proactive input into forward planning and design processes.

Maintain strong technical knowledge on equipment and techniques related to the company activities and lead on the development of technical proposals for the effective and economic provision of the required
services. Prepare risk assessments, safe work procedures and work method statements. Periodic travel around the coast of Ireland and farther afield will be required.

Essential Requirements;

  • Qualifications in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification, ideally in Electrical Engineering
  • Experienced technical operations manager
  • Knowledge of Electrical Standards, both Irish and international
  • Knowledge of renewable energy, control systems and modern light technology
  • Record of team building and leadership
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Strong ICT skills


  • Chartered Engineer or approaching Chartered level
  • Membership of professional organisation
  • Experience of project design and costing
  • Experience in integration of electrical elements in new build and refurbishment
