FRS Recruitment are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client in the Renewable Energy sector for the role of Biomass Quality & Plant Operative. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine tractor operation with fuel quality testing in a busy renewable energy environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for sampling and testing biomass (woodchip) deliveries to ensure compliance with site and industry standards, while also operating a tractor with a bucket to support yard and fuel handling operations. This role requires a practical, hands-on individual with experience in machinery operation as well as an interest in renewable energy and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a tractor with bucket to manage and move biomass (woodchip) on site

  • Take, prepare, and record woodchip samples in line with industry and plant guidelines

  • Test samples for moisture content, cleanliness, and size to ensure fuel meets specification

  • Liaise with the onsite laboratory on sample preparation, reporting, and resolving quality queries

  • Provide feedback on supplier performance and report issues to management when required

  • Build strong relationships with hauliers, suppliers, and colleagues on site

  • Maintain accurate records of sampling and quality reports

  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are met at all times

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience in tractor driving / machinery operation essential (tractor with bucket or similar plant machinery)

  • Experience in biomass, forestry, renewable energy, or related sectors desirable

  • Knowledge of woodchip/biomass quality standards (moisture content, size, contamination) preferred

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Flexible, organised, and comfortable with both practical and administrative duties

  • Immediatly avaialable
