As Toolroom Supervisor, you’ll oversee a team of Toolmakers and support staff in the manufacture, repair, and maintenance of injection mould tools, jigs, fixtures, and automation components. You’ll play a critical role in reducing downtime, improving tooling reliability, and driving continuous improvement across the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day toolroom activities including preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, breakdown repairs, and new tooling projects.
  • Operate and supervise work using CNC machines (EDM, Wire Eroder, CNC mill/lathe) and manual machinery (grinders, lathes, drills, welders).
  • Ensure tooling is production-ready and meets required quality standards.
  • Provide strong technical support to production and engineering departments.
  • Mentor apprentices and junior team members, promoting skills development.
  • Maintain tooling records and participate in project launches and trials.
  • Uphold safety standards and 5S practices to ensure a clean, efficient work environment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven background in toolmaking, ideally within an injection moulding environment.
  • Strong CNC and manual machining skills.
  • Experience with hot and cold runner systems and precision assemblies.
  • Familiarity with heat treatment and tooling finishing processes.
  • Experience leading a team or stepping up in a senior toolroom capacity.
  • Confident decision-maker with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and proactive.
  • Committed to delivering high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Positive and adaptable with strong time management skills.
  • Completed Toolmaking or Engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent).
  • FLT license or willingness to obtain one.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or 5S environments.
