As Toolroom Supervisor, you’ll oversee a team of Toolmakers and support staff in the manufacture, repair, and maintenance of injection mould tools, jigs, fixtures, and automation components. You’ll play a critical role in reducing downtime, improving tooling reliability, and driving continuous improvement across the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day toolroom activities including preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, breakdown repairs, and new tooling projects.
- Operate and supervise work using CNC machines (EDM, Wire Eroder, CNC mill/lathe) and manual machinery (grinders, lathes, drills, welders).
- Ensure tooling is production-ready and meets required quality standards.
- Provide strong technical support to production and engineering departments.
- Mentor apprentices and junior team members, promoting skills development.
- Maintain tooling records and participate in project launches and trials.
- Uphold safety standards and 5S practices to ensure a clean, efficient work environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven background in toolmaking, ideally within an injection moulding environment.
- Strong CNC and manual machining skills.
- Experience with hot and cold runner systems and precision assemblies.
- Familiarity with heat treatment and tooling finishing processes.
- Experience leading a team or stepping up in a senior toolroom capacity.
- Confident decision-maker with the ability to work under pressure.
- Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and proactive.
- Committed to delivering high standards and continuous improvement.
- Positive and adaptable with strong time management skills.
- Completed Toolmaking or Engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent).
- FLT license or willingness to obtain one.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing or 5S environments.
