Temp Social Care Worker – Intellectual Disability Service – HSE Pay Scales
FRS Recruitment is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Social Care Worker to join a well-established intellectual disability service in the Wicklow region. This service aims to empower individuals with the necessary skills to encourage them to live fulfilling and satisfying lives as equal citizens of their local communities. Requirements:
- Fluent/native English speaker – essential for effective communication and understanding.
- Experience with individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities.
- Full clean driving licence – manual driving experience preferred.
- Comfortable working alone and as part of a wider care team.
- Open to engaging in banter, humour, and building authentic rapport.
- Able to maintain professional boundaries while being personable and empathetic.
- Confident with completing daily logs and reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support to the service user across a structured daily routine as per the service user will and preference
- Encourage and enable meaningful engagement, respecting the individual's autonomy and communication style.
- From 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM, be based in a separate staff location, available to assist as needed.
- From 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM, support the individual directly at their residence and in the community.
- Be flexible if the individual chooses not to engage—use nearby facilities (e.g., a local coffee shop) during downtime.
- Complete daily paperwork and documentation accurately and promptly.
- Foster a relaxed, positive atmosphere—sharing jokes and light-hearted banter is encouraged as the service user enjoys humour.
