My client, a leading technology manufacturer based on the outskirts of Cork City, is seeking a Supply Chain and Operations Specialist to join their growing team.

Key Responsibilities:

Planning & Forecasting

  • Analyze and forecast demand to develop accurate production and procurement plans.
  • Create and manage production schedules based on demand forecasts and resource availability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align supply chain plans with customer requirements.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust forecasts accordingly.
  • Track planning, inventory, and production performance data, generating reports and insights for management.
  • Recommend process improvements and contribute to supply chain optimization projects.

Finance & Supplier Support

  • Initiate purchase orders (POs) following internal approvals.
  • Manage supplier backlog reporting, monitoring PO and production status weekly.
  • Oversee invoice processing: verify against goods received notes, collaborate with Finance on authorizations, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support creditor ledger management and supplier credit note requests.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships as Finance’s first point of contact for issues.
  • Escalate extended delays to management, proposing solutions (e.g., expedited shipping).

Logistics Coordination

  • Confirm production readiness for shipment and ensure all paperwork is in place.
  • Support freight booking by reviewing benchmark rates and recommending freight partners.
  • Collect and analyze bulk freight quotes, advising Finance on optimal routes (rail, sea, or air).
  • Collaborate with logistics partners to streamline shipping and delivery schedules.

Sales & Customer Engagement

  • Act as a point of contact for key customer accounts, maintaining contracts and relationships.
  • Participate in weekly customer calls to review shortages, backlogs, and delivery commitments.
  • Provide customers with regular backlog and delivery lead time reports.
  • Escalate critical shortages or delays and recommend solutions (e.g., prioritizing SKUs, expediting deliveries).
  • Identify new sales opportunities by spotting gaps in competitor supply and leveraging available stock.
  • Provide ad hoc support to customer queries in a timely manner.

Quality & Technical Support

  • Maintain ERP master data, ensuring commercial data (prices, lead times, MOQs, packing specs) is up to date.
  • Support accuracy of technical datasheets and product information per SKU.
  • Place purchase orders based on technical/engineering requirements, ensuring correct versions are ordered.
  • Track quality metrics (samples, AQL, batch tracking) to support audits and compliance.

Qualifications Required for the desired candidate:

  • Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in demand planning, production scheduling, or inventory management.
  • Proficiency in planning software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
