Overview of the Role
The role is responsible for promoting and upholding the highest possible standards of nursing care within the home, ensuring that all staff members are carrying out their duties effectively. This position reports to — and is accountable to — the Director of Nursing.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure every resident is treated with dignity, privacy, and respect, and recognised as an individual.

Understand and implement the Named Nurse model, ensuring all associated documentation is completed and maintained accurately.

Build meaningful relationships with residents, their families, and visitors, providing appropriate support and comfort at all times, particularly during bereavement.

Ensure that all Mowlam Healthcare policies are fully understood and observed by all team members.

Maintain clear, concise, and accurate records in line with legislation and Mowlam Healthcare standards.

Ensure strict adherence to agreed policies and procedures relating to the control, administration, and safe custody of all drugs and medications.

Demonstrate knowledge of HIQA standards and the ability to actively participate in the inspection process.

Oversee the admission process, ensuring that new residents are admitted correctly and that all relevant documentation is completed.

Liaise with relevant healthcare professionals to support residents transitioning back to the community, ensuring continuity of care.
Qualifications

First-level nursing registration.

Current registration on the NMBI live register.
