I’m currently recruiting on behalf of my client, a well-established civil engineering and surfacing contractor, for a Site Supervisor to oversee asphalt surfacing operations across their Kildare-based projects.

This role would suit an Engineer or Technician with proven experience in road surfacing, civil engineering, or construction management, who is ready to take on a hands-on leadership position. You’ll play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of surfacing works while supporting my client’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day asphalt surfacing operations in line with project specifications, safety standards, and environmental requirements.

  • Manage surfacing crews, subcontractors, and plant resources to meet production targets and deadlines.

  • Carry out site inspections, setting out, and record-keeping of progress, materials, and quality control.

  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Oversee and implement traffic management plans, maintaining the highest safety standards.

  • Support the Contracts Manager with planning, reporting, and resource allocation.

  • Promote sustainable surfacing methods, including Warm Mix Asphalt (WMA) and Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP)

Candidate Profile

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in road surfacing or civil engineering projects, ideally with supervisory experience.

  • Strong technical knowledge of asphalt production, laying techniques, and quality standards.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of health & safety regulations(Safe Pass and Manual Handling required).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

  • Proficient in setting out, surveying, and interpreting technical drawings.
