My client is a busy and well-established construction company based in Galway, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality projects. With a consistent pipeline of new and ongoing projects across Galway and the surrounding region, the company is now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join their growing team.This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a professional, close-knit contractor that values integrity, collaboration, and high standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost and contract management for various construction projects. The role involves tendering, procuring subcontractors, preparing interim valuations, claims, and final accounts, while providing commercial support throughout each stage of the project lifecycle. You will play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on budget and in line with contractual obligations, working closely with the Director, Contracts Manager, and wider project team.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and issue tender documentation to subcontractors and suppliers.

Analyse subcontractor quotations, conduct negotiations, and award packages.

Prepare and submit interim valuations, variations, and final accounts for both clients and subcontractors.

Monitor and manage project costs, budgets, and forecasts.

Identify and value variations/change orders, ensuring timely agreement and submission.

Manage contract administration, including claims and contractual correspondence.

Support procurement planning and cash flow forecasting.

Liaise with project teams, site staff, clients, and consultants to ensure smooth financial delivery.

Provide commercial input and advice at both pre-construction and construction phases.

Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and construction industry regulations.
About you

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Quantity Surveying role within the construction industry.

A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or similar discipline.

Experience working with main contractors on small to medium-sized building projects.

Solid understanding of Irish construction contracts, procurement, and public sector tendering.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and commercial skills.

Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines.

Proficiency in MS Excel and other QS-related software tools (e.g., Buildsoft, Cubit, or equivalent).

A full clean Irish driving licence.
