The Role


An experienced Project Planner is required to join the construction team on a major project in the Cork region. Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing, monitoring, and reporting on project schedules across multiple disciplines, ensuring integration and coordination between Civil, Structural, Architectural (CSA) and MEP elements.

This is a key position requiring strong technical knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project and site management teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver a reliable, responsive planning service for the project.

  • Prepare, monitor, and update schedules for all project phases across multiple disciplines.

  • Ensure schedule updates from area schedulers are accurate, coordinated, and consistent with overall programme goals.

  • Conduct quality checks on schedules before submission to the client.

  • Track progress against the baseline programme, identify deviations, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Implement and manage progress measurement systems and reporting.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to project teams and clients on schedule progress and performance.

  • Analyse data from schedules, including lookaheads, S-curves, and histograms, to forecast and report progress.

  • Work closely with site management teams to support efficient project delivery.

  • Produce accurate forecasts, variance reports, and other planning documentation.

Requirements

  • Relevant third-level qualification in construction, engineering, or related discipline.

  • 4–5 years’ experience as a Project Planner, ideally with a main contractor.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Primavera (P6).

  • Experience on large-scale commercial building projects, with exposure to civil works, M&E, and fit-out elements.

  • Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
