Microbiology Registrar – Cork, Ireland

FRS Recruitment are delighted to partner with a University Teaching Hospital in Cork to recruit a Microbiology Registrar. This is an excellent opportunity for a doctor with a keen interest in microbiology and infectious diseases to develop their career within a busy and supportive hospital environment.

The Role

As a Microbiology Registrar, you will work closely with the Consultant Microbiologist and be involved in:

  • Diagnostic microbiology and laboratory practice

  • Managing and monitoring infectious diseases

  • Advising on antibiotic utilisation and stewardship

  • Infection prevention and control

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in patient care

This role offers exposure to a wide range of cases, making it an ideal opportunity for professional growth and progression.

Requirements

  • Active registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)

  • Previous experience in microbiology and/or infectious diseases desirable

  • Permission to work in Ireland:

    • Stamp 4 or 1G GNIB, or

    • Irish, UK, or EU passport, or

    • Candidates from visa-exempt countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA) will also be considered

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills
