About the Role
Currently seeking a qualified Medical Scientist (Basic Grade) to join a Histology team. This is a permanent opportunity to play a vital role in delivering high-quality laboratory services that directly support patient care and clinical outcomes.
As a key member of the laboratory staff, you’ll be engaged in performing and supporting diagnostic tests and ensuring the smooth operation of the Histology department.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the efficient and accurate processing of Histology tests and specimens in line with departmental protocols and accreditation standards (INAB/JCI).
- Support and maintain laboratory documentation, including policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Prioritise workloads effectively during high-volume periods and assist with concurrent testing tasks.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to introduce new technologies and ideas.
- Assist in managing laboratory supplies and investigating non-conformances and equipment issues.
- Engage in ongoing quality assurance efforts, including participation in internal and external audits.
- Support training and mentorship of junior staff and promote a positive, team-oriented environment.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety in line with current legislation and hospital procedures.
- Participate in relevant research activities and contribute to process improvement and service development.
Requirements
- Must hold or be eligible for membership with the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM)/CORU or equivalent regulatory body.
- Minimum of 1-year post-training laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated experience in Histology is required.
