My client, a leading and long-established main contractor with a strong reputation in commercial, industrial, and pharmaceutical construction, is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to oversee Environmental, Health & Safety performance across multiple projects in Cork and the wider Munster region.

This is a senior-level position suited to an experienced EHS professional who wants to contribute strategically while remaining hands-on in driving best practice, compliance, and a strong safety culture across project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation, monitoring, and continuous development of the company’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Management System

  • Ensure full compliance with Irish Health & Safety legislation, environmental regulations, and company standards

  • Provide expert guidance, coaching, and support to site management teams, supervisors, and subcontractors on all EHS matters

  • Coordinate and deliver Health & Safety training, including site inductions, toolbox talks, and task-specific training

  • Develop and review site-specific documentation such as risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), safe plans of action, and permit-to-work systems

  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits, reporting findings to project and senior management, and ensuring timely close-out of corrective actions

  • Lead incident and accident investigations, ensure accurate reporting, root cause analysis, and communication of lessons learned

  • Maintain EHS registers, documentation, KPIs, and monthly reports to management and directors

  • Support project close-out by compiling relevant safety documentation for inclusion in the Safety File and client handover

  • Promote a proactive safety culture and uphold the company’s commitment to a safe, healthy, and incident-free workplace

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant third-level qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety or related discipline

  • Minimum of 8+ years’ EHS experience within construction, commercial or pharmaceutical projects (main contractor experience preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of Irish EHS legislation, industry best practices, and management systems such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001

  • Proven experience working on large-scale or complex construction projects

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Strong IT proficiency, including MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and digital safety platforms

  • Ability to work on own initiative while collaborating effectively within a project team

  • Full, clean Irish driving licence essential
