Health & Safety Officer – Limerick

My client a well-established manufacturing company in Limerick are seeking Health & Safety Officer to join their team.

This is a key role responsible for ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, while promoting a safe and positive working environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily walkabouts and promptly report any health and safety concerns.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with staff on H&S matters.
  • Complete GA1 inspections for all lifting equipment, including fork trucks and MEWPs.
  • Maintain service and maintenance records for relevant equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of chemical stores and first aid kits.
  • Ensure AED batteries, cranes, and PPE compliance checks are completed as scheduled.
  • Keep up to date with current H&S legislation and update registers accordingly.
  • Complete annual risk assessments and deliver toolbox talks.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses, compiling detailed reports.
  • Maintain the training matrix and up-to-date training certificates.
  • Arrange and deliver health and safety training, including fork truck driving, manual handling, gas awareness, and fire safety awareness.
  • Oversee H&S inductions for new employees.
  • Maintain the company Safety Statement.
  • Conduct annual fire drills and ensure all fire safety systems are serviced, tested, and recorded.
  • Keep compliance documentation, such as the Fire Safety Book, up to date.

About You

  • Proven experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to lead training sessions and promote a safety-first culture.
  • Relevant health and safety qualification is desirable.
