FRS Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Head of Ruminant on behalf of a leading animal nutrition business. This is a full-time permanent role.

Headquartered in Northern Ireland, with sites across Ireland , UK & Europe our Client are proven pioneers in science and technology to ensure the most effective and efficient utilisation of nutrients in the production of food.

This newly created role will report to the CEO and the primary objective of this role is to lead commercial workstream in innovation projects for new solutions & services. You will assume responsibility for target product profiles, go-to-market strategies, regional onboarding, engagement and business cases.

Duties to include

  • Develop and communicate differentiated positioning, including application programs and value propositions for new solutions & services.
  • Coordinate with the regions, operating units, and local markets to execute the launch of new solutions & services.
  • Provide technical support to key customers & other key industry stakeholders for new solutions & services together with the local teams.
  • Track competitor activities and gather intelligence on their competing offerings for new solutions & services.
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to define the fees & grants allocation for new solutions & services for ruminant.
  • Define the program and coordinate the execution of ruminant strategy, working with regional and global teams.
  • Develop strong relationships and network with ruminant experts and ensure they are trained on new solutions & services.
  • Partner with internal teams to support business growth.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties as required
  • Lead and manage teams, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace environment whilst promoting a learning culture and ensuring training compliance in all areas.
  • Actively participate in creating a safe and environmentally friendly workspace by raising HSE concerns when needed

  • Problem solving and on farm diagnostics
  • Relationship building and Industry networking.
  • Collaboration across technical & commercial team.

Candidate profile

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Animal Science, Ruminant Nutrition, Veterinary Science, or a closely related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in technical sales, key account management, or business development focused on dairy, beef, or sheep sectors.
  • Deep technical understanding of ruminant nutrition, forage quality management, feed efficiency, rumen health, reproduction, and herd performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully identifying, securing, and growing large or strategic ruminant accounts.
  • Strong ability to build trust and long-term partnerships with farmers, nutritionists, veterinarians, and cooperative or feed company stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of tailoring technical information to different audiences (farm owners, feed mill buyers, veterinarians).
  • Comfortable using CRM platforms to track client interactions and manage pipelines.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (20% global travel) to visit farms and attend industry events, sometimes in rural or remote locations.
