FRS Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Head of Agri Business Development on behalf of a leading agri-technology business supplying quality animal feeds to ruminant and monogastric. This is a full-time permanent role.
Headquartered in Northern Ireland, with sites across Ireland , UK & Europe our client are proven pioneers in science and technology to ensure the most effective and efficient utilisation of nutrients in the production of food.
Duties to include
Reporting to the CEO the primary purpose of this role is to Lead, develop, and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with company objectives, in collaboration with regional and global teams.
- Identify, build, and manage strategic partnerships and key accounts to drive business growth.
- Deliver sustainable business growth over the next five years through optimised operations, strategic alliances, and superior customer service.
- Assess new markets, industries, and revenue streams; lead the successful launch of new nutritional solutions and services.
- Work closely with senior leadership to define financial targets, growth objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Drive innovation by identifying emerging trends, technologies, and competitive advantages to strengthen market position.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and industry leaders across all species sectors.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing customer experience team to deliver best-in-class service and customer satisfaction.
- Design and implement a data strategy in collaboration with business stakeholders to support overall organisational goals and performance.
- Leverage technical expertise to drive commercial success and enhance business performance.
- Partner with internal cross-functional teams to identify and support business development opportunities.
- Manage and lead teams while promoting an inclusive, positive, and high-performance culture, ensuring continuous learning and training compliance.
- Actively contribute to a safe and environmentally responsible workplace by identifying and escalating health, safety, and environmental concerns as needed.
- Perform other reasonable duties as required to support business success.
Essential experience required
- Deep understanding of animal feed ingredients, formulations, species-specific nutrition (livestock, poultry, pets, ruminant), and the effects of nutrition on animal health and performance.
- Strong skills in consultative selling, lead generation, client relationship building, contract negotiation, and closing large, strategic deals.
- Key Account Management - Relationship building at multiple levels (technical teams, procurement, executives
- Ability to translate complex nutritional concepts into value propositions that resonate with different stakeholders (nutritionists, veterinarians, procurement teams, executives.
- A strong network within the agricultural industry ( feed mills , integrators , co-ops , veterinarians ,farm groups )
- Knowledge of global and local regulations concerning animal feed , feed additives and labelling )
Candidate profile
- Degree (BSc/MSc/PhD) in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Science, or a related field.
- Strong technical grounding in monogastric and/or ruminant nutrition.
- Ability to communicate complex nutritional solutions simply and persuasively.
- Minimum 5+ years in a senior commercial, key account management, or technical sales role within the animal nutrition or feed industry.
Location & Travel
- UK or Ireland-based (flexible on exact location).
- Willingness to travel extensively across the UK, Ireland, and occasionally Europe / ROW (~20–30% travel).
