About the Organisation
A well-established engineering subcontractor, with over 25 years in operation, specialising in fabricated weld assemblies, treated assemblies, and machined components supplied primarily to OEMs, is seeking a General Manager for its newly built 4,200 sq. metre, near-zero-energy facility in County Cavan.

Position Overview
The General Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the new facility, reporting directly to the Managing Director. This senior leadership role requires strong operational, engineering, and people-management skills. The successful candidate will drive performance improvements, support staff development, and uphold exceptional customer satisfaction. A key objective is to optimise efficiency and profitability while ensuring smooth and effective operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily business operations and drive strategic initiatives.

  • Develop and implement strategies to support growth and operational excellence.

  • Lead operations, engineering/quality, procurement, and administration teams.

  • Ensure high-performance operations that meet customer expectations and on-time delivery.

  • Oversee HR processes including recruitment, training, and staff development.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers across multiple sectors.

  • Set departmental objectives and enhance systems and procedures.

  • Work closely with finance to manage budgets and identify opportunities to improve financial and operational performance.

  • Collaborate with sales/account management teams to deliver outstanding customer satisfaction.

  • Build, develop and lead a management team capable of delivering organisational goals.

  • Uphold health and safety standards across the organisation.

  • Maintain strong client relationships and explore opportunities for new business.

  • Promote and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven management experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

  • Knowledge of machining, fabrication, or related production processes is highly desirable.

  • Relevant third-level qualification preferred.

  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on motivation, training, and team development.

  • Performance-driven with strong budgeting, planning, and reporting skills.
