We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Manufacturing Client’s Finance team. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organisation in managing its financial performance. The successful candidate will play a key role in safeguarding the integrity of financial records, preparing financial statements, and supporting both internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts and complete month-end procedures.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare weekly forecasts and treasury reports.
- Manage banking relationships and ensure compliance.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including depreciation and disposals.
- Monitor capital expenditure and report against budget.
- Complete and file government returns and statistical reports.
- Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with FRS102.
- Ensure tax compliance including PAYE, VAT, and corporation tax filings.
- Manage internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Support company secretarial and compliance functions.
- Maintain bills of materials and complete product costing.
- Drive continuous improvement in finance processes and reporting.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and mentor finance team members, promoting knowledge sharing and team effectiveness.
- Provide cover across all areas of the finance department.
- Undertake ad-hoc duties and projects as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 3+ years’ experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), payroll systems, ROS, and online banking.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in preparing management accounts and financial statements.
- Solid understanding of cost accounting, corporation tax, and manufacturing financial processes.
