Our client, a leading organisation in the renewable energy sector, is seeking to appoint three Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialists on a permanent basis. These roles will report to the Planning Programme Manager and will be responsible for leading the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) and Appropriate Assessments (AA/NIS) across major renewable energy infrastructure projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the EIA process for large-scale renewable energy projects, including preparation and delivery of EIARs and AA/NIS.

  • Provide expert environmental input to planning teams, ensuring projects are compliant with planning and environmental legislation.

  • Monitor and interpret changes in planning/environmental policy, legislation, and development plans, contributing to organisational submissions as required.

  • Support stakeholder engagement and consultation with communities, statutory bodies, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Prepare specifications for third-party services and collaborate with procurement teams on associated processes.

  • Ensure all project work complies with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, as well as EU and national requirements.

  • Contribute to mentoring and development of junior staff, with a particular focus on EIA and AA processes.

  • Actively participate in performance management processes to achieve both individual and team objectives.


Candidate Profile

  • Honours Degree (Level 8 NFQ) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is desirable but not essential.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading EIAR and AA/NIS preparation for large-scale projects.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary teams on EIA projects.

  • Strong knowledge of the EIA process and Irish planning legislation/policy.

  • Experience in renewable energy, large infrastructure, or SID projects is desirable.

  • Technical expertise in a relevant EIA-related discipline (e.g., ecology, noise, air quality) is an advantage.

  • Proven ability to deliver across a variety of project types with differing priorities and risk profiles.
