Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the engineering team to succeed in their objectives.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Recruit, interview, and hire engineering staff.

  • Set departmental and individual goals and KPIs aligned with senior management’s strategic plan.

  • Conduct annual performance reviews and implement personal development plans.

  • Define training requirements and maintain skills and capability matrices.

  • Collaborate with Operations Managers to deliver solutions on time, within budget, and to a high standard by assigning appropriate engineers to tasks.

  • Oversee pre-sales activities and provide technical sign-off for tenders and designs.

  • Work with the Sales Team to develop and implement solution roadmaps.

  • Hold the engineering team accountable to KPIs, budgets, deadlines, and engineering standards.

  • Prioritise, delegate, and supervise all engineering activities and deliverables.

  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation.

  • Ensure adherence to ISO policies and best security practices (e.g., ISO 27001, NIS, IEC 62483).

  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and ensure the team maintains relevant knowledge and expertise.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • In-depth understanding of engineering theory and design principles.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in SCADA/PLC and communication solutions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s preferred.

  • Familiarity with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Knowledge of technologies such as SCADA, HMI, PLC, Microwave, DMR, Wi-Fi, MPLS, GSM, DWDM, and IP Networking.

  • Experience with Six Sigma, Agile, or Lean methodologies is desirable.

  • Strong database skills.

  • Ability to prioritise and delegate effectively.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills across all levels of an organisation.

  • Proven experience managing diverse, multi-national teams.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities.

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and time management.

  • Ability to develop strong working relationships and lead discussions toward win–win outcomes.

  • Calm and focused under pressure, commercially aware, and capable of driving team performance.
