Staff Electrical Engineer – Medical Devices

I am delighted to be working with my client a leading global medical technology manufacturer to recruit a Staff Electrical Engineer for a senior, hands-on role within an advanced automation and equipment development environment. This position will suit an experienced Electrical Engineer who enjoys working at system level and taking ownership of complex electro-mechanical designs from concept through to commissioning.

This role sits within a highly technical, multidisciplinary team focused on the development of automated machinery and plant systems used in regulated medical device manufacturing.

The Position
You will be responsible for the design and development of electrical and electro-mechanical systems, contributing to overall system architecture and ensuring compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards. You will create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, cabinet designs and bills of materials, while supporting calculations, simulations, testing and validation activities. The role involves close collaboration with suppliers, contract manufacturers and internal stakeholders across engineering, quality, and manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience in an industrial electrical or automation environment
  • Strong background in machinery, equipment or capital systems design
  • Solid experience with SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical or EPlan
  • Knowledge of EMC, functional safety, risk assessment, and Machinery Directive requirements
  • Familiarity with EN 60204-1 and IEC 61010-1 standards
  • Experience with DFMEA, design reviews and regulated documentation practices

This is an on-site role with a minimum of four days per week in the office, offering strong technical exposure, long-term career progression, and the opportunity to work on high-impact medical technology projects.
