Job Title: Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) – Limerick Mobile Team
Location: Limerick Regional Centre (covering Limerick and surrounding counties)
Contract Type: Full-time, TEMPORARY (FIXED PURPOSE)
Travel Requirement: Regular travel within Ireland (including monthly attendance at the National Blood Centre, Dublin, as required)

Role Overview

The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) will lead and manage the Limerick Mobile Team in delivering high-quality donor services across the South-West of Ireland. The role involves ensuring safe and efficient clinical practices, staff development, compliance with quality standards, and effective service delivery.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage team performance, ensuring delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Oversee planning, assessment, implementation, and evaluation of donor services.

  • Manage donor recruitment, selection, and retention.

  • Carry out clinical duties including:

    • Donor screening and eligibility checks

    • Venepuncture and blood sample collection

    • Donor care before, during, and after donation

    • Recognition and management of adverse donor events

  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems, SOPs, and current policies.

  • Maintain accurate and timely reporting of incidents and complaints.

  • Provide and manage staff training, ensuring records are completed.

  • Support other teams by providing cover when required.

  • Participate in audits and implement required actions.

  • Contribute to service planning and development.

  • Lead and support change management initiatives.

  • Identify inefficiencies in service delivery and implement solutions.

  • Lead and participate in project working groups relevant to the role.

  • Ensure effective use of resources to deliver a high-quality, value-for-money service.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Registered with NMBI (live register) in any division.

  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, with at least 2 years in relevant clinical practice within the last 3 years.

  • Previous management experience.

  • Evidence of continuous professional development within the last 2 years.

  • Strong written communication skills with high attention to detail.

  • Proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook) and experience with electronic patient or learning management systems.

Desirable Criteria

  • Management qualification.

  • Full driving licence.
