Grade IV Medical Secretary –
Portlaoise(with off-site clinics in Mountmellick and one other location – full driving license required)
Full-time temporary , 35 hours per week
This is a vital role within a busy healthcare setting, requiring excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support

Manage day-to-day clerical operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy

Deal directly with members of the public, patients, and families in a professional and empathetic manner

Work closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting clinical and management staff

Manage patient appointments, referrals, and clinic schedules
-
Answer queries in person, by phone, and by email in a courteous and timely way

Take minutes of meetings, prepare agendas, and circulate information as required

Supervise and support clerical staff where needed

Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, files, and correspondence

Ensure compliance with GDPR, policies, and internal procedures

Provide admin support to off-site clinics in Mountmellick and other designated locations (driving license essential)
Requirements

Previous experience as a Medical Secretary or in a busy administrative role (healthcare setting preferred)

Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook; database systems)

Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

Full driving license and access to own transport
