Behavioural Specialist – Adult Disability Services

Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

Overview:
This senior-level role involves providing behavioural support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and complex needs. The successful candidate will oversee service delivery, lead clinical governance, and support staff development within a multidisciplinary, person-centred environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs)

  • Conduct functional assessments (e.g. FBA, ABC)

  • Supervise and mentor behavioural support staff

  • Train staff and families in behavioural strategies

  • Lead service audits and quality improvements

  • Collaborate with MDTs and external agencies

  • Respond to behavioural crises using best-practice de-escalation approaches

Essential Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in ABA, PBS, Behavioural Science, or related field

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting individuals with ID, ASD, or complex needs

  • Skilled in functional assessment and intervention design

  • Experience supervising staff and contributing to service development

  • Knowledge of HIQA and safeguarding regulations

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in residential or community disability services

  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and neurodiversity-affirming approaches

  • Strong report-writing, communication, and data analysis skills

  • Background in training delivery, research, or policy input
