Behavioural Specialist – Adult Disability Services

Overview:
This senior-level role involves providing behavioural support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and complex needs. The successful candidate will oversee service delivery, lead clinical governance, and support staff development within a multidisciplinary, person-centred environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs)

Conduct functional assessments (e.g. FBA, ABC)

Supervise and mentor behavioural support staff

Train staff and families in behavioural strategies

Lead service audits and quality improvements
-
Collaborate with MDTs and external agencies
-
Respond to behavioural crises using best-practice de-escalation approaches
Essential Requirements:

Master’s degree in ABA, PBS, Behavioural Science, or related field

5+ years’ experience supporting individuals with ID, ASD, or complex needs

Skilled in functional assessment and intervention design

Experience supervising staff and contributing to service development

Knowledge of HIQA and safeguarding regulations
Desirable Skills:

Experience in residential or community disability services
-
Familiarity with trauma-informed care and neurodiversity-affirming approaches

Strong report-writing, communication, and data analysis skills
-
Background in training delivery, research, or policy input
