A leading international building materials group is seeking an Automation/ Systems Engineer to join its technical team in Louth.

Using advanced, energy-efficient technology, the sites produce a range of high-quality cements that meet the highest Irish and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will provide professional engineering support, with responsibility for maintaining and enhancing plant control systems. Core duties include:

  • Acting as Network Owner, responsible for all control system servers, software, and communications.

  • Managing the Siemens PCS7 central control system to ensure safe, efficient, and effective operation.

  • Designing and programming software for new projects and plant modifications.

  • Implementing software modifications, troubleshooting, PID loop setup and tuning, and supporting colleagues on control system issues.

  • Commissioning, testing, and signal checking during project rollouts.

  • Maintaining operator stations and plant visualisation software.

  • Coordinating the upload and validation of software upgrades and patches.

  • Liaising with specialist engineers from control system suppliers.

Candidate Profile

The role requires strong knowledge of Siemens PCS7 systems, combined with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments in a fast-paced production environment.

Essential / Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or technical discipline.

  • Minimum 5 year's relevant hands-on industrial experience.

  • Proven experience with PCS7, Step 7, Simatic Manager, and WinCC.

  • Strong understanding of Windows OS, network configuration, and security.

  • PLC programming experience in CFC, FBD, and STL.

  • Familiarity with SQL and at least one high-level programming language.

  • Knowledge of system archiving/restoration and OT cybersecurity tools/practices.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong technical acumen with a practical, business-focused mindset.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 – 16:30

  • Friday: 8:00 – 15:30
