Job Opportunity: Permanent full time Area Service manager
Location: Galway East
Salary: €76,000-89,000 per annum
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Overall Objective:
The Area Manager is responsible for the effective management, development and support of a highly motivated staff team associated with the Services. The Area Manager will liaise and provide direct support to other senior management and will be a proactive member of the management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing the overall leadership to the Service Coordinator, Team Leaders and Staff Members.
The Area Manager has a pivotal role in ensuring that the day to day operations reflect the ethos and vision of the services and that the needs of individuals are being met as far as possible by a highly motivated staff team. The successful candidate will provide operational management of the Service Programme, be responsible for all aspects of the Programme, and facilitate clear communication within the Programme in relation to day to day operations as well as the goals agreed by the Service Team.
The Area Manager will support the work of the staff as a team that supports a culture of consensus decision making as far as possible. The successful candidate will support the on-going business and work of the Sector to ensure that the highest possible standards are in place and to develop services that reflect best practice and meet the needs of the individuals we support. The Area Manager will be an active member of the East Sector Team, participating in the operational and strategic development together with the implementation of the services strategic plan.

Leadership

Promote person-centred care and full citizenship for individuals supported.

Lead and support teams in alignment with the vision of Services.

Foster advocacy, dignity, respect, and good communication.

Develop strategic and annual service plans.

Collaborate with senior leadership on service setup, planning, and risk management.
Management
-
Oversee and support service coordinators, team leaders, and staff.

Manage budgets, IT systems, staffing, and service delivery.

Handle HR functions including recruitment, induction, conduct, and training.

Support families and maintain GDPR-compliant information systems.

Identify and advocate for new service needs, manage waiting lists.

Oversee fleet, buildings, and participate in East Sector management structures.

Lead team performance planning and supervision.
Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with HIQA, HSA, and all statutory regulations.

Act as Person in Charge (PIC) for services.

Identify and manage risks, including fire safety.

Implement New Directions framework and maintain insurance requirements.

Requirements:
- A nursing qualification, RNID/RNMH is an advantage and must be currently registered with the NMBI or a relevant third level qualification in the Health/Social Care Sector.
- Candidates must be eligible for registration on the Social Care Register at CORU on or before 30th November 2025. View approved qualifications on https://www.coru.ie/health-and-social-care professionals/education/approved-qualifications/social-care-workers/
- Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years management experience in the Health Sector.
- Candidates require a management qualification.
- Candidates should have budgetary/financial, employee relations and team management experience.
- Candidates must hold a full clean Irish manual driving licence.
- The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish an indemnity from Insurers in favour of the employer. Travelling expenses at the appropriate rate will be paid in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge of duty.
