Role Description

The main objective of this role is to sell Grains & NGFIs for the company. You will also be expected to provide advice to customers (B2B) as regards the timing of their purchases, as well as communicating relevant market information to customers. Duties will include:

  • Daily liaising with customers, advising them on whether they should buy on a given day, providing market updates & an accurate, empirical narrative on daily price-movements.
  • Building on existing customer & supplier relationships in addition to developing new customers & suppliers accounts.
  • Meeting face-to-face with existing (and potential new) customers 2-3 times (min.) per annum.
  • Working closely with other traders to ensure they are aware of key market developments & information on a daily basis.
  • Working closely with the logistics team to ensure customers always have access to product as they require.
  • Working closely with our quality team to always ensure full compliance with each product’s quality requirements.
  • Working with finance department in collecting customer payments, in addition to compilation of real-time data analysis required to assist with day-to-day decision-making.
  • Contributing to projects which contribute to further development of business and information systems used by the company.

Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years experience in sales/commercial role in related fields (i.e. Agronomy, Dairy, Agri, Food, Inputs etc.) is desirable.
  • Agriculture, Science/Technical or similar degree is desirable, but not essential.
  • Strong mathematical ability is a prerequisite.
  • Strong proficiency in general computing, particularly in MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Ability to be both a team player, and also to work autonomously when required.
  • Driven to learn, succeed & help out at all times.
  • High attention to detail, multi-tasker.
  • Efficient, ability to prioritise tasks, work to tight deadlines, and manage own time.
  • Flexible attitude and approach, willingness to put the extra effort in to complete tasks.
  • Ambitious with a strong work ethic, and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Committed to learning and continuous improvement of both self & function (& other areas of company where relevant).
  • Ability to take responsibility/ownership of functional areas and proactive logical problem-solver.
  • Ability to present reports, data, and information in a clear, concise and aesthetic manner.
  • A strong communicator with good interpersonal skills who is at ease resolving issues with customers & suppliers.
  • Full clean driving license.
