Job Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and enthusiastic Activities Co-ordinator to join our dedicated team at our nursing home in Roscommon. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by planning and delivering a variety of stimulating and person-centred recreational activities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a weekly and monthly schedule of social, recreational, and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.

  • Engage residents in individual and group activities such as music sessions, arts and crafts, exercise classes, gardening, reminiscence therapy, games, and outings.

  • Collaborate with residents, families, and care staff to assess needs, preferences, and participation levels.

  • Maintain records of activity attendance and resident engagement to support person-centred care planning.

  • Foster a warm, inclusive, and stimulating environment that promotes wellbeing, dignity, and social interaction.

  • Organise seasonal celebrations, cultural events, and community visits where appropriate.

  • Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and health and safety policies during all activities.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuous professional development opportunities.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a residential or healthcare setting.

  • A relevant qualification in social care, community development, or related field is desirable.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Creativity, patience, and a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older people.

  • Garda Vetting and suitable references are required.
