Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and enthusiastic Activities Co-ordinator to join our dedicated team at our nursing home in Roscommon. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by planning and delivering a variety of stimulating and person-centred recreational activities.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a weekly and monthly schedule of social, recreational, and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.

Engage residents in individual and group activities such as music sessions, arts and crafts, exercise classes, gardening, reminiscence therapy, games, and outings.

Collaborate with residents, families, and care staff to assess needs, preferences, and participation levels.

Maintain records of activity attendance and resident engagement to support person-centred care planning.

Foster a warm, inclusive, and stimulating environment that promotes wellbeing, dignity, and social interaction.

Organise seasonal celebrations, cultural events, and community visits where appropriate.

Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and health and safety policies during all activities.

Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuous professional development opportunities.
Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a residential or healthcare setting.

A relevant qualification in social care, community development, or related field is desirable.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.

Creativity, patience, and a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older people.
